THE HIDDEN PHOTOGRAPH: LISA EINSTEIN’S SEARCH FOR HOME
My mother, Lisa Sofie Einstein took this picture of the nameplate on her father, Dr. Otto Einstein’s medical office on April 1, 1933. This was the day that the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses and professionals began in pre-war Nazi Germany. The photo inspired me to write this book about our family.

Judith Samuel is à writer and a ceramist, a former archivist and research librarian with a background in Information Literacy and Art History. She attended New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts and the University of California at Los Angeles. Born n South Wales,, she has lived and worked in New York, London, and Jerusalem. She currently lives in Santa Monica, California.
